13,000+ Feet!

Yep, that is how high we went today!! We woke to blue sky and no clouds so we played hookie!! No school or work! Emma hasn't moved that fast in the morning in ages! We jumped in a taxi and headed to Teleferico - a cable car that takes you 4,050 meters or 13,287.4 feet up the mountain! You have a spectacular view of the city and its surroundings including more than 14 peaks of the Andes that is called the Volcanoes Avenue. I won't lie, I was a little nervous going up and down but the view was unbelievable! It takes about 10 minutes each direction and at the top there is a restaurant area and look outs. This was suppose to be a big tourist site with hopes of a hotel, nightclub, movie theater, etc but it never took off. It was busy today but the weather was perfect. At the bottom of the Teleferico there is a small amusement park. Of course we had to visit that too! That was not so busy. We spent a couple of hours there but a lot of that time was finding an employee to get you on a ride. In the little kid area there was only one man working so he had to go from ride to ride. There is also a big kid area with Go Karts that Hayden was itching to go on but Emma was not big enough. Then of course there is the game area. Again, only 2 gals working and one was the only cashier so we waited to play a few games but that was it. I won Emma a big pen playing a duck game!! I am good!! We will most likely go back on a weekend when more people are working. Emma can get her fill of rides and games before the big July 4th carnival!!

Danni passed out within 10 minutes of getting into the cab. He slept several hours once we got home. Hayden and I went to read books in the sun and next thing we knew it was 2 hours later!! Emma - she sat in front of the TV the whole time. It was super quiet so she was happy!

We have no big plans for the weekend. On Saturday there is mandatory voting going on. No elections of officials, referendum type things. Voting here is mandatory. If you do not vote then you cant buy a house or car. Your ID gets put on a list. We assume this is why they vote on Saturday. Not sure what will be open. There has been demonstrations on the side of busy roads - vote YES or NO. We have no idea what they are campaigning for. It might be an interesting day!

Sunday is Mother's Day and Danni has already called for Parque Carolina to ride the horses!! It will be Michelle's first day so that is about all she will want to do too. Her flight lands late and with the altitude change relaxing is a must. I just want to order pizza for dinner. They have Domino's, Papa John's and Pizza Hut here! Did we even leave home?!?! There is some good local pizza we were told about too but I am not sure they deliver.

Enjoy the pictures from the day. It was gorgeous!! I will add more tomorrow! Mari
